ON THE CANVAS AND ON THE PAGE – FROM NOVEMBER 9TH TO JANUARY 22ND
The Banco di Napoli Foundation, in collaboration with the Meeting del Mare C.R.E.A. Foundation and ilCartastorie Museum, present: ON THE CANVAS AND ON THE PAGE, HISTORIC PAINTINGS AND DOCUMENTS TRACE THE HISTORY OF THE NEAPOLITAN BAROQUE.
The exhibition, curated by Don Gianni Citro, President of Meeting del Mare C.R.E.A. Foundation, includes 30 paintings by celebrated artists such as Fabrizio Santafede, Antiveduto Gramatica, Giovanni Bernardino Azzolino, Massimo Stanzione, Filippo Vitale, Artemisia Gentileschi, Pietro Novelli, also known as the Monrealese, Giovanni Ricca, Andrea Vaccaro, Giovan Francesco De Rosa, also known as Pacecco, Agostino Beltrano, Francesco Guarini, Antonio de Bellis, Johann Carl Loth, Luca Giordano, Giuseppe Recco, Francesco Solimena, Paolo de Matteis, Domenico Antonio Vaccaro, Sebastiano Conca, Francesco de Mura, and Tommaso Ruiz.
This is not a traditional exhibition; instead, it is a dialogue between documents and paintings, creating new and unique ways of understanding the artworks, the artists, and the historical backdrop of the period. The Banco di Napoli Foundation, in its historical archives, hosts centuries of historical records regarding southern Italy and the entire Mediterranean area. Documents and paintings, narrations and colors, voices and images are mixed together to lead spectators through the daily lives and social evolutions during that historical period.
The exhibition will be open from November 9 to January 22 at the Headquarters of the Banco di Napoli Foundation in via dei Tribunali, 213.
Purchasing tickets for ilCartastorie Museum will allow guests to visit both the exhibition and the Historical Archives of the Banco di Napoli Foundation.
Opening times are the same as the Museum: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
