THE MUSIC ROOMS
Thursday, June 23, at 6 p.m., the Music Rooms at the Banco di Napoli Foundation (via Tribunali, 213) were inaugurated. These two multimedia areas were created to enhance and promote the enormous patrimony of information kept at the Banco di Napoli Historical Archives.

The initiative is part of the museum called IlCartastorie and it was created within a project entitled “SENECA: Sensi e Vibrazioni, Musica e New Media tra Cultura E Territorio” (SENECA: Senses and Vibrations, Music and New Media between Culture and the Territory). The leader of the project, Distretto Tecnologico STRESS, worked in partnership with ETT spa and Nexsoft spa, along with public research organizations such as the Istituto per le Tecnologie Applicate ai Beni Culturali del CNR (Institute of Applied Technologies for Cultural Heritage at CNR and the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Nicola Sala” di Benevento (“Nicola Sala” National Music Conservatory of Music in Benevento).

The main characters in this section of IlCartastorie Museum are Angelo Carasale, the impresario who built the San Carlo Royal Theatre of Naples and who was also an account holder at the ancient Neapolitan Public Banks, and the composers Verdi, Donizetti, Cimarosa, Paisiello and Pergolesi. Their stories are told using instruments which combine the arts and new technologies, with the aim of promoting innovative museum experiences where visitors can interact with touch-screens, interactive videos and evocative multimedia systems.

It is an exhibition which allows Neapolitans and tourists to enrich their knowledge of the history of Naples by playing the music that is part of the Neapolitan musical tradition known all over the world.
