Drawing on recent data and institutional reports the study highlights how educational disengagement functions as a predictive factor of youth marginalization, particularly in highly deprived urban areas. The case study serves as a lens through which to examine systemic weaknesses in the Neapolitan context and underscores the urgency of educational, social, and judicial policies capable of interrupting the intergenerational transmissi on of violence and disadvantage. The article contributes to the broader debate on prevention and inclusion strategies in at-risk environments.
2025-09-22T13:05:28+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/144Il Vico di Fausto Nicolini e quella “metamorfosi dell’erudizione in poesia”2025-09-22T13:20:36+00:00Manuela Sannaalessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
The essay traces the most important stages of Fausto Nicolini’s work on the life and works of Giambattista Vico. The biography that Fausto Nicolini dedicated to him in an era in which historiography had not yet acquired a clear perception of the role of political mediation played by the magistrates in the Ancien Régime presents ideas of considerable interest. The scholar, although he did not fail to give prominence also to aspects relating to Argento’s private affairs, in fact showed a significant awareness of the scope of the legal-institutional dynamics of those years. Rereading his contribution allows us to test his intuitions in the light of the new views acquired by historiography in recent decades.
2025-09-22T13:26:17+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/146Le scorribande di Don Fastidio. Fausto Nicolini e l’arte napoletana2025-09-22T13:34:03+00:00Antonio Milonealessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
Throughout his career as a scholar, Fausto Nicolini always had a privileged relationship with the history of Neapolitan art. From the very beginning, when he was entrusted with the editing of “Napoli nobilissima”, the magazine desired by the cultural circle gathered around the young Croce, to which he collaborated with essays of notable importance on the topography of the city between the Middle Ages and the modern age. His interests in the field of historiography were vast, resulting in the fundamental edition of the 1524 letter by Pietro Summonte to Marcantonio Michiel on Neapolitan art, a true incunabulum for the knowledge of the cultural heritage of the region and which, until Nicolini’s discovery, was only partially known. He was able to combine his interests in the history of Naples, especially in the modern age, and in the philosophers of the past, in primis Giambattista Vico and Ferdinando Galiani, who occupied him throughout his life, with his in-depth studies on Neapolitan art and monuments, also thanks to his wise and meticulous archival work, which allowed him to exhume precious information, in particular from the funds of the Neapolitan banks, kept in the archive of the Banco di Napoli, to which he dedicated himself tirelessly in the last years of his long life.
2025-09-22T13:34:03+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/147Fausto Nicolini e il dialetto napoletano2025-09-22T13:41:27+00:00Salvatore Iacolarealessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
This essay investigates the space that the Neapolitan linguistic variety had within Fausto Nicolini’s bibliography. In this regard, it focuses on three works published in 1923-1924: the edition of Ferdinando Galiani’s treatise Del dialetto napoletano (1923), the essay La lettera di Giovanni Boccaccio a Franceschino de’ Bardi (1924) and the three volumes Esercizi di traduzione dai dialetti della Campania. Neapolitan (1924). Reviewing these works, an attempt is made to highlight, on the one hand, the contribution made by Nicolini’s production to current knowledge of the linguistic-literary history of Neapolitan, and on the other, his ability to master Neapolitan, especially in the circumstance of some peculiar rewritings.
2025-09-22T13:41:27+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/148Fausto Nicolini e l’Archivio di Stato di Napoli2025-09-22T13:49:50+00:00Lorenzo Terzialessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
The essay traces the career of archivist Fausto Nicolini (1879-1965), since 1903 – when he joined the administration as a «first class student» – until March 1915, when he won the direction of the State Archives of Siena. Nicolini – who was introduced to historical and philological studies by Benedetto Croce – served at the State Archives of Naples, where he went through the cursus honorum prescribed by the law, until he became «first archivist of fourth class». So, the essay gives account of the hard work done by Nicolini, using the documents found in his personal files, kept at the State Archives of Naples and at the so called «Archivio Centrale dello Stato» in Rome, as well as in his private archive, kept at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Storici of Naples. An irreplaceable source is also represented by the so-called «Segretariato», that is the historical archive of the State Archives of Naples.
2025-09-22T13:49:50+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/149L’archivio di Fausto Nicolini all’Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Storici2025-09-22T13:54:58+00:00Stefano Palmierialessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
The essay describes the personal archive of Fausto Nicolini (now at the Italian Institute for Historical Studies), a mirror of his intense intellectual life
2025-09-22T13:54:58+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/150Marcus Furius: Fausto Nicolini e la Società Napoletana di Storia Patria2025-09-22T14:00:49+00:00Antonella Veneziaalessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
The article outlines the scientific and human relationship between Fausto Nicolini and the Società Napoletana di Storia Patria, which lasted approximately sixty years: it started in 1903, when Nicolini donated the Galiani’s archive, until 1965, year of the Nicolini’s death.
2025-09-22T14:00:49+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/151Fausto Nicolini e le carte dell’Archivio storico tra indirizzi, ricerche e lezioni metodologiche2025-09-22T14:52:22+00:00Luigi Abettialessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
The study reconstructs Fausto Nicolini’s work, as member of the committee for the Historical Archives of the Banco di Napoli (1949-1965). More than half a century later, it turns out that Nicolini’s articles, published in the “Bollettino”, drew a guideline on the use of economic sources in many disciplinary fields, that still influences the programmatic choices of the activities of this Archive: namely, their researches, publications, databases and, the online series of the “Quaderni dell’Archivio Storico”.
Origini ed evoluzioni2025-09-22T15:13:52+00:00Paola Avallonealessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.itGloria Guidaalessia.esposito@ilcartastorie.it
Until the post-Second World War, the management of the Banco di Napoli felt the necessity to establish a periodical that could address banking concerns from a historical point of view, by using its historical archive. The reconstruction efforts following the war stimulated the idea of commemorating the past, and to facilitate the memory, the conception of a dissemination medium became paramount. However, it is noteworthy to point out that as early as the beginning of the 20th century, the Banco di Napoli had already initiated discussions concerning the enhancement of its extensive historical heritage. The present contribution aims to provide a comprehensive reconstruction of the birth and development of the “Bollettino Storico”, focussing on its founder, Fausto Nicolini.
2025-09-22T15:13:52+00:00##submission.copyrightStatement##https://www.ilcartastorie.it/ojs/index.php/quaderniarchiviostorico/article/view/153Paolo Baratta, "Dal Mezzogiorno.
