Abstract
This paper – product of research carried out in the context of the “Luigi de Rosa” scholarship of the Fondazione Banco di Napoli – outlines a historical perspective on the role played by General Manager Nicola Miraglia in the running of Banco di Napoli’s land credit during its liquidation. Through a detailed analysis of unpublished archive documents and historical sources, framed in the articulate literature on the subject, the text traces Miraglia’s path during a crucial period of economic reorganization following the banking crisis of the late 19th century. The manager, with enlightened vision and effective leadership, developed strategies to restore proper management to meet the challenges of the liquidation of land credit, contributing significantly to the bank’s economic revival. The article aims to reconstruct the evolution of the historical-economic scenario from a multi-disciplinary perspective, in which the political, social, and cultural aspects wherein Miraglia carried out his work take on relevance. To ensuring an in-depth understanding of the factors that determined the management of land credit between the end of the 19th century and the early 20th century and its impact on the local and national economy.
